How to sell items by weight

Sell produce, meat and deli by weight, and let customers pay for exactly what you weigh. It's fair for you and for your customer.

Steps

1. Open Catalog, then All Products, and open the item.
2. Turn on Sold by weight. The price you set is the price per kilo.
3. Choose the steps customers can pick. Customers can also pick a number of items, like three avocados, using the average weight of one.
4. At checkout the customer picks a weight or a number of items. Their card is held for a little more than the estimate.
5. When the order comes in, open it and press Enter weights.
6. Type what each item really weighs. If it goes over what the customer's card covers, you get a warning, so you can trim it or give the extra free.
7. Press Finalize & charge. The customer pays for the real weight.

Good to know

• The customer never pays more than the amount held on their card.
• Each product opts in on its own, so you can mix weighed and regular items.
• This option only appears for grocery and convenience stores.
